Sensei Linda Gage

1994 Began training Kenpo Karate WPB, FL

1998 Began training under Sensei Matthews, Chito-ryu Karate-do, WPB Yoseikan

2002 Founded Charlottesville Yoseikan

Former professional dancer with The American Ballet Theater followed by a second career as a commercial airline pilot.  Ms. Gage now devotes all of her time to teaching and training in both Karate-do as well as Iaijutsu.

Emma is currently a student at James Madison University majoring in Public Policy.

Mr. Rike is a former wrestler and distance runner. He is the owner of RIKECORP of Charlottesville Va

Mr. Monge has experience in hand to hand combat, developed while serving in the US military. He is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at UVA in Charlottesville,VA

Mr. Grammer brings to the Charlottesville Yoseikan a knowledge of the Japanese language and customs. He is a Senior Electronics Engineer at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Charlottesville,VA

William (Buck) Bailes

Buck has been a Research Technician at University of Virginia for 21 years.  Before joining Charlottesville Yoseikan he studied Oh Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do and  Wing Chun Kung Fu.

Ms. Hagedorn graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science. Erin is a teacher at Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro, VA and a certified Firefighter & EMT.

Following a 30 year sedentary lifestyle, Mr. Siebenmann changed his life with Chito-ryu Karate-do and Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaijutsu.  Fred works in accounting at the University of Virginia.

Linda is a sophomore at Western Ablemarle High School. She is a straight-A student and an avid athlete excelling at lacrosse. She will be testing in October 2011 before the National Test Board at the Hombu dojo for her black belt.

Sensei Linda Gage
Senior Instructor

2008 Began training Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu. Gage Sensei has established an official Kenkyukai (study group) under the Jikishin Kai. She was awarded this honor by Carl Long, Kyoshi, Director for the Jikishin Kai, International and Eastern USA Hombu-Cho.

2010 Promoted to Ik-kyu by Kyoshi Long while attending an Instructors seminar at the Eastern USA Hombu dojo.

Doug Gellman
Adult Assistant Instructor

1977 Began training in Judo in New York, acheiving rank of Green belt.
 
2008 After a nearly 30-year absence from Martial Arts, Doug began training in Iaijutsu at the Charlottesville Yoseikan Dojo under Sensei Gage.
 
2010 Promoted to 4th Kyu in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido at the Charlottesville Yoseikan Dojo by Sensei Carl Long under the charter of the Jikishin-Kai.

2011 Winter, Promoted to 3td Kyu in MJER by Sensei Linda Gage, honored by Kyoshi Carl Long under the KNBK charter.

2011 Summer, Promoted to 2nd kyu in MJER by Sensei Linda Gage, honored by Kyoshi Carl Long under the KNBK charter.

Doug currently works for Blue Ridge Mountain Sports in Charlottesville, where he has worked since 1994.  He is an avid outdoor adventurer and has completed thru-hikes of the Appalahian Trail, Vermont Long Trail, John Muir Trail, and Scottish Highland Trail.  He holds a BA in Environmental Science from Connecticut College, and he served as a Dispatch Officer for the Charlottesville-Albemarle 911 Center for a period of four years.
