Fall Clinic
After an amazing weekend, it's no surprise that I have got karate on the brain. I was one of more than 20 members who made the annual pilgrimage from Charlottesville to Kentucky. New Tournament Competition

History is Made at the March Clinic
March 14th was a big day for the United States Chito-ryu Karate Federation as well as Charlottesville Yoseikan. Mr. John (Jack) Little, the oldest person to test before Hanshi Dometrich and the Honbu dojo regional test board passed his Ik-kyu test ( first degree brown belt ). Third Annual Fundraiser/Seminar
Feb 21, 2009 marked the third fundraiser for the Charlottesville Yoseikan. Over 30 members of the dojo attended along with former karate-ka, Tia Little (who is now attending medical school) and several other guest participants. The fundraisers are held to raise monies to assist families with travel to our National Clinics and Black Belt testing as well as providing goods for the dojo. [Read more]

Born Jan. 12, 1942 to Lilian Maxine Moore and James Emanuel Matthews, Sr. Sensei Matthews lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, through his elementary and high school years. Labor Day 2008
Labor Day or not, the budo-ka at Cville Yoseikan came out in full force for the visit of Hanshi and Kyoshi Dometrich. August 2008 Testing at Cville Yoseikan
Mrs Pam Grammer was awarded the rank of Ni-kyu, skipping the rank of San-kyu. She is now the first adult female trained at the Charlottesville Yoseikan to receive this degree of brown belt. The honor was bestowed due to her stalwart training in spite of a very disruptive work schedule as well as the degree of proficiency of her skills. 2008 Summer Seminar/Fundraiser
Charlottesville Yoseikan hosted a seminar/fundraiser for the second summer in a row. This year, featured guest instructor was Sensei Gerald Meade from the Honbu dojo in Covington, KY. Meade Sensei began his training back in the early 1970's and is ranked Yandan in Chito-ryu Karate-do. More then eight years ago he began training under the prestigious Iaijutsu organization, "Muso Jikiden Eishen-Ryu". He now holds the rank of Nidan in this discipline. [Read more]
May 2008 Awards Cville Yoseikan
Helen Payne, mother of budo baby, Megan, hosted an end of the year awards party for the Cville Yoseikan. Members came out in full force to attend this event. The karate school will make this the first of an annual affair. The purpose of such an event is to recognize those students who have made vast improvement over the past year as well as making great contributions to the growth and stability of the dojo.
